Bull and Buddha 319 Main St Poughkeepsie

What can I say about this place……. it’s not like anything you would have expected to see anywhere in the Hudson Valley let alone Poughkeepsie 5 years ago but now it’s the perfect fore-runner of what’s to come. A great menu of Asian Fusion with a focus on steaks (the Bull) and a pan-Asian inspired flavor palate. The decor is phenomenal with comparisons to something from Soho or Las Vegas. beyond all that a spot on staff and management make for a smartly casual yet unpretentious experience. I have eaten my way up and down the menu and have not found anything I was not impressed with at the least. They have a great sushi bar that gets the point of sushi: good flavors fresh fish and beautiful presentation. You would think with all this the prices would be through the roof but they are very reasonable with the most expensive entree coming at around $26. They have put a lot of time and thought into their cocktail menu and harmoniously echo the flavors invoked in the food. Very fresh ingredients make the drinks subtle yet intriguing. As a Cocktailian I can be a bit wary of new school drink concepts but when I have been offered a specialty drink fresh from the bar manager I was happily rewarded with a burst of flavor that kept me drinking. Try the Pear Sake cocktail I did (a few times). Private parking around back makes it easy to get there and the food drinks and service will make you never want to leave
